I have been having some fun with the 80's blogging insomuch as I took a few creative liberties and pretended I was a kid explaining what was going on the certain years and such. That's not the case tonight.
Tonight I am actually blogging on something very serious and quite sad. Tonight I want to discuss the forgotten elderly. As you may or may not know, my grandmother has been suffering from ill health recently. For the past month she has either been in the hospital or in an in-patient rehabilitation center. My grandmother in no way qualifies as forgotten. Her children and grandchildren all visit on a regular basis and take an active interest in her.
However, I have seen some old people that just seem so lost and lonely and it breaks my heart. When I go to the rehab I make a point of saying hello to all the other patients that I pass by. These people survived The Great Depression and fought World War II -- they are amazing and in many cases, they are forgotten.
On a different note, I think we are done with the blogging competition. It's been a lot of fun, but also very difficult as it's hard to come up with new and interesting topics everyday for three weeks. We'll do it again, but we need a break!

WTF? no way, you can't be done. I read this every night. Now what am I going to do? Oh, alright.
Hey BFF! I would love to thank you and Liz for entertaining us the past couple of weeks. I have really enjoyed reading both your blogs..and just today I discovered that Karen has one too now. Geez, I should threaten to start one of my own! Nah..ain't gonna happen. Anyway, I know exactly how you feel in regard to the elderly at the homes, rehabs & hospitals. It always broke my heart when we would go for Easter or Mother's Day - any holiday or visit with my Grandmothers. When they see you with your family, some of them get that look in their eye...one of "I wonder where my family is? or I don't get visitors." Heartbreaking. I would always try and flash a big smile and say hello too. Hoping that it would make them feel a little special.
