She's more than a lady

I imagine it would be somewhat difficult to be friends with a celebrity. Pretend for a moment that you are out at a club with a Hollywood starlet and you are just you. I tend to think that any of us would be on the invisible side.

Now pretend that the starlet is your dog and you have just understood what it's like to be the mom of the most popular dog in town.

I just had my little bean out for a walk and three people stopped what they were doing to come over and make a fuss over her. Two were a father and son that stopped their little football game. When they were done petting her and resumed their fun, Saffron sat on the grass and watched them play. While she was sitting there a guy came out of his apartment to take out the trash and made a Basset Hound pit stop on his way to the dumpster.

I have even met new tenants that have stopped me and asked, "Is that Saffron?" I swear, this dog has a following. One of my favorite "my dog is cooler than me" moments was last year some time when the young, hip twenty-something from my building greeted my dog with a "What up, Saffron?" and didn't say hello to me.

Yet I am content to yield the spotlight to her, for how could I possibly compete with this?
