You ain't never caught a rabbit and you ain't no friend of mine...

While she's super-cute, Saffron is a bit of a pain in the behind.

As you know, she has had seizures brought on from her own anxiety problems. Her first seizure was when I brought her to a groomer two summers ago to get her nails cut.

Basset Hounds have very thick nails that rarely wear down just from everyday activity...Saffron has to get her nails cut once a month. If her nails aren't cut, other medical problems can ensue. In February of this year, I came home one night to find her on the floor, with her foot up in her face. It turned out that she scratched at her face and her long nail got caught in the rim of her eye. Oh yes, there was blood and tears and a very large veterinary bill.

I now have a groomer come to my apartment once a month to cut my girl's nails. Yesterday, when I opened the door for the groomer, Saffron ran out the door and began to trot away. Thank goodness she is thirteen years old and not very fast!

Anyway, here are her happy feet from a post-grooming photo shoot.

How I love this little girl and her big, fat tootsies!

(It turns out Sha-Na-Na sings "Hound Dog" in Grease...hence my title today!)

That dog looks like she is smarter than all of us.
