"Can I borrow your towel? My car just hit a water buffalo."

I have an announcement.

I just got a brand new job.

It's the first car commute I've had in about 11 years. I've been taking a train into Philadelphia for the last decade, and now I have a 28 mile drive each way. So I'm taking good old Ginger (1999 Saturn SC2) in for some well deserved maintenance this week. She's getting a coolant flush and a new motor in the driver-side window. And about $1,000 of other stuff.

Why put that much money in her since she's almost 10 years old? Well, Ginger still has under 55,000 miles on her and I have only had to put new brakes and tires on her in all this time. I figure Ginger and I will be friends for another 5 good years (or more) and if she only requires about $1,500 of work in 10 years, then she's a damn good car. However, I will be car-less all this week. If anyone wants to come visit and drive me around, you are welcome to.

PS - I am very scared about starting a new job. I was at my last one for five years and it's nerve-wracking to start fresh.

(My title is from Fletch.)
