One of my neighbors threw four perfectly good sunflowers out her front door the other week. I assumed they came from her estranged husband/boyfriend person who no longer lives there.
I also assumed that the next time she went outside, she'd dispose of them in the trash. She threw them out the door in a moment of passion, right?
Wrong. She threw them out the door because she's a slob. They've been there ever since.
One morning I was up with Saffron even earlier than usual; it was still dark outside. I picked up the decaying stems and placed them on her doorstep. She'd be certain to get the picture when she came outside. I mean, if I threw trash in a common area and one of my neighbors took the time to gather it up and put it right back in front of my door, I'd get the hint.
Well, she didn't. She's sloppy and stupid. The stems were tossed to the side again.
Now, with the crazy winds we're having, two have completely blown away and two are lingering around the breezeway. A sad testament to her love life gone wrong and her housekeeping skills gone even wronger! Kind of like my English.
