When (My) Life Imitates Art

Not too long ago I shared the lyrics to "Tell Me on a Sunday" with you. It's one of my most favorite songs and considering my recent trip to Dumpedville, it's pretty on the mark with my emotions.

I have the Michael Crawford version on CD in my car and listened to it on repeat for about 30 minutes this morning.

I asked my co-worker, Ettore, if he knew the song, as he is a patron of the theatre scene in NYC. Here's how our conversation went:

Jennifer: Hey, Ettore.

Ettore: Hey, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Do you know the song 'Tell Me on a Sunday'?"

Ettore: From Song and Dance?

Jennifer: That's the one. I can't stop listening to it.

Ettore: Have you seen Song and Dance?

Jennifer: Nope.

Ettore: It's interesting. It's about a girl who dates a nice boy from the Midwest, falls in love with him, they break up and she's left all alone. That's when she sings that song.

Jennifer: (silence)

Oh. Dear. God.

Please enjoy Sarah Brightman, "Tell Me on a Sunday" and the irony that is The Life of Jennifer...

hmmm.... I saw that play in London with my parents over 20 years ago. I didn't remember the exact love story being how you mentioned it. I have never seen a production anywhere since. It was great, and I always wondered why I didn't see it done more often. I find myself singing "Cap teeth with caesar salad, Hotel Beverly Hills" all the time. At least your dumped anthem is from a Broadway play and not Metallica, no?

Dear girl, love will find you. I feel it.

From what I understand she dates a whole bunch of peeps, including midwest boy. I think she even want to marry someone to live in the US, but I'm not certain. I think it's interesting the second act is all dancing, dancing, dancing.

I am just embracing the irony of the placement of my fav song.
