In the past 23 years we have shared secrets, talked about boys, bitched about men, gotten drunk, graduated high school and college, gone to Europe and more together.
There is nothing that I think or feel that I couldn't share with her. She knows me inside out and upside down. And I know her that way as well.
Last November Diane married Mark. I love Mark too. He's worthy of my girl, he's a genuinely good man and he lets me make fun of him.

I received the thank you card from their wedding today.
What would Diane write to me in the thank you? Would she include lines from a lovely poem on friendship? Would she reminisce about all the years we've been friends? Was I in store for sheer poetry when I opened the card? Should I grab a tissue just in case?
The card reads as follows:
Dear Jenn,
Thanks!
Love,
Diane and Mark
What a jack-ass! She happened to call me a few minutes after I opened it and I thanked her for her lovely words. I thought she was going to die laughing. She purposely did it to annoy me.
And that's why I love her.
My title is For Just a Moment, by David Foster (the Love Theme from St. Elmo's Fire). It's a lovely song that reminds me of high school (I sang it at one of our functions) and my younger years with my St. Elmo's Fire-ish group of friends. It's the kind of song that makes me happy and sad simultaneously.

My sister walked into her wedding reception to that music, without the words. It was held at a beautiful mansion in New Brunswick, NJ, circa 1985. I cried. I feel the same way about that song. Beautiful.
Did you cry because it makes you think of Jersey? hehe.
