The Best Part of My Day - Monday

All day long I have dreaded the moment when I had to sit down and write this post. It hasn't been a good day. I woke up with swollen eyes and a cough - classic allergy issues. I have had a headache on and off throughout the day. My father is suffering from some serious health issues and he consumes a lot of my thoughts.

What would be great about this day? The cup of coffee I drank? Nothing remotely interesting has happened to me.

Around 9:30 my phone rang. It was Diane calling quickly to check on me. Despite the fact that both she and her 6-month-old son are sick and she's not sleeping. She took five minutes to call me and ask me how I am. Then I went on Facebook and had two messages from friends who live far away - Sean who's in Germany and Toni who's in Arizona. They emailed to check in on what's going on concerning my Dad's health.

It was then that I realized that was the best part of my day. My dear friends taking just a moment out of their busy lives to see how everything here is playing out.

It may not be glamorous. It's not all that exciting. But it's real.

And having real friends that care makes the difficult times a bit easier.

Thanks guys.

Side note: It's a Blogathon week my friends. Each day for the next 7 my cousin Liz and I will be posting with the topic of "best part of my day". Check out her blog HERE.

You are very easy to love. And like. Wish you were closer, but I'll always be just an email away. Thinking of you!
