Out-of-the-Box Nails

I own a million shades of red nail polish. Everytime I look at nail polish I am drawn to the red polishes with an invisable magnet. Every once in a while I'll branch out and wear my beloved Russian Navy (OPI) or Lincoln Park After Dark (OPI), but then I go right back to red.

This fall, however, I've discovered some lovely new colors and have branched out, at least nail-wise.

My first purchase was Chanel Le Vernis in Peridot. Depending on how you look at this color, it can look gold, green, or anywhere in between. It's totally fun, has an easy-to-apply formula and is very long-lasting.

I've also recently gotten into the company, butter LONDON. butter LONDON is, according to their website created "without the use of the harmful ingredients like Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or Parabens." And, "butter LONDON was the first company to sell non-toxic nail lacquer in the United States."  Cool, right? And they have lots of nifty colors. For the fall I have purchased Bluey and The Old Bill. (I'm also jonseing to get a bottle of Blagger!)

The only fault I can find with butter LONDON polish is that you must apply at least three coats, as the formula tends to be on the thin side.

What nail polish are you wearing this fall? Did you branch out and try something new, or are you using an old tried-and-true friend?

Bedroom Transformation: Complete

For the past few years I had wanted to change things up in my bedroom decor-wise, but I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to take until I wondered around a somewhat high-end antique store in Salem County, NJ and discovered this amazing red, vintage medicine cabinet. And there was my inspiration: red.

Please enjoy my very red and super-cozy new bedroom look.

The antique medicine cabinet that inspired my journey.

These linens are so happy I can't stand it! Both the decorative pillow and the duvet are from IKEA.

New lamp bases and shades from IKEA complement the linens. Red curtains from Target pull the look together.

These colorful prints from Target add to the whimsical nature of the room.

Don't you just want to crawl in and take a nap?

Finally, the light weight Ofelia throw from IKEA is perfect for a warm night.

Come have a seat...

I've had IKEA's Bollo outdoor table and chairs for years and they have served me well. And, they've taken a beating. Not only have the endured sun bleaching, but they have twice had paint spilled on them from the patio above mine. (For some reason it never dawns on people that what spills off the second floor balcony lands on the first floor patio.)

I had intended on staining the set again this summer in the dark brown they have always been until I happened to be in Home Depot and spotted this paint.

Look how sun damaged the poor little set is!

It's amazing what some paint can do, isn't it?

Add some cute cushions and we're all set!

The Painted Cottage

People are constantly stopping me and asking, "Jennifer, your home is so lovely...where do you find such interesting items to fill it with?"

Okay, so no one has ever asked me that.

However, I am so excited about this new development, that I have to share.

About a year or so ago, Jo-Ann and I stumbled upon a new store, The Painted Cottage. Located in the beyond-adorable town of Collingswood, NJ, The Painted Cottage is a shabby chic dream come true.

Not only do they sell g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s pieces, but they will custom redesign your furniture! It's true. Do you have an old, crummy-looking armoire that seems beyond hope? I tell you, the artists at The Painted Cottage are miracle workers. I have been in their magic shop-like restoration room and have seen it myself.

The best part is that if you don't live near Collingswood, The Painted Cottage is now on Etsy!

Go have a look at all the lovely gems.

And if you'd like to visit in person, which I recommend highly, they are located here:

714 Haddon Avenue
Collingswood, NJ 08108

Be sure to tell them I sent you. They will have no idea what you're talking about.

P.S. I desperately want this and this .

Wouldn't It Be Lovely?

It's no secret I enjoy surrounding myself with lovely things.

However, lovely can sometimes be very costly.

And I am by no means a lady of luxury. She's works hard for the money, so you better treat her right!

I have decided to begin buying fresh-cut flowers for my home because they are simply

Lovely
and a
promise of Spring

I began last week with Gerber Daisies and they are just
