She gave me a pen

Once upon a time there were four teenage girls named Jennifer, Diane, Jennifer and Peggy.

One day in 1989, Jennifer and Jennifer met each other in a Communications class at Camden Catholic High School. Jennifer sat in front of Jennifer. Jennifer's pen ran out of ink, so she turned to Jennifer and asked her for a pen.

I was the silly girl who's pen died. Jennifer Travis was the lovely lady with more than one writing implement. That's how we met and became groovy friends.

We bought Doc Martens together. We went to lots of shows, including the infamous Gwar show where we got hosed in Gwar blood and other bodily functions...ask if you dare. We rented Sid and Nancy, Dogs in Space and other punk rock movies. We danced on stage at Revival...the alternative nightclub in Philly. We were incredibly cool and loved the lives we lived.

And then, somehow, it ended.

I don't really recall what took Jennifer from our little gang. For a time it became me, Diane and Peggy. Then it was me and Diane.

The four little Catholic schoolgirls drifted...

But now they're back.

After about 15 years Jennifer and I have reconnected and will see each other on Sunday. I am 50% sure Diane will be able to make the reunion, but am saddened that Peggy can't come. It would have been perfect to all be together again, even if for only a few hours.

I wonder if Jennifer remembers that day in class when I turned to her and asked for a pen. I'll have to ask her. I'll let you know.

Who the heck are Jennifer and Peggy? Was I gone? Head up the arse? Not in your universe?

You moved to Arizona before I met them Senior year. They were both in the class of 1991.
